ZPPA SUSPENDS TOMIRIKI COMMODITIES AND GENERAL TRADING

The Zambia Public Procurement Authority ZPPA has suspended Tomiriki Commodities and General Trading from participating in public procurement for a period of 3 years, for under-performance of contractual obligations with effect from 17th May, 2024.

This is after ZPPA instituted investigations in the contract signed between Kasenengwa Town Council and Tomiriki Commodities and General Trading, following a recommendation from the local authority for the construction of a 1×3 classroom block at Mankwangwe Primary School in Mphunza Ward of Kasenengwa District at a contract sum of K675, 318.54 under the 2022 Constituency Development Fund CDF.

ZPPA Assistant Public Relations officer Lucy Lumbe says the Authority established that Tomiriki Commodities and General Trading failed to complete the construction works despite receiving a payment towards the project of K456, 000 translating to 67.52% of the contract sum.

“ZPPA further established that Tomiriki Commodities and General Trading abandoned the project site without justification and as a result failed to meet its contractual obligations,” said Ms. Lumbe in a statement issued to RCV News in Lusaka today.

She said that the suspension includes any “successor in interest” including any entity which employs, or is associated with any partners, directors or other officers considered as successors in interest.

Ms. Lumbe said that the suspension does not in any way limit Tomiriki Commodities and General Trading from performing outstanding contracts that were entered into before 17th May, 2024.
