The Zambia Medicines Regulatory Authority (ZAMRA) has warned against the use of bleaching creams saying that they cause cancerous diseases.
ZAMRA Registration Officer Allied substances, Victor Mpundu, said this in Lusaka today when he featured on Christian Voices’ Chatback program on the topic, “Understanding the mandate of ZAMRA”.
Mr. Mpundu said that most bleaching creams are medicinal adding that a lightened skin is a side effect of the said creams.
“Currently ZAMRA is yet to ascertain a safe skin lightening cream on the market,” said Mr. Mpundu.
He has therefore urged Zambians to avoid using bleaching creams that he said have the potential to damage their health.
