VICTORIA STATE OPEN TO ENHANCED BILATERAL TIES WITH ZAMBIA

The Governor of Victoria State in Australia, The Honorable Margaret Gardner, has underscored the need to enhance bilateral ties with Zambia.

The focus is on deepening Government-to-Government and people-to-people connections, which are pivotal in boosting economic bilateral relations through diverse channels.

During a visit by Zambia’s High Commissioner to Australia and New Zealand, Elias Munshya, to the Australian state of Victoria, discussions were held on strengthening partnerships that go beyond traditional diplomatic engagements.

Dr. Munshya emphasized the importance of fostering connections through business collaborations, cultural exchanges, and mutual investments. Key discussions during the meeting revolved around exploring opportunities in several critical sectors, including mining, manufacturing, infrastructure, and tourism.

He highlighted Zambia’s abundant natural resources and the significant presence of the Zambian Diaspora in Australia as potential catalysts for these partnerships.

Dr. Munshya identified Victoria’s expansive global trade and investment network as a vital conduit for establishing stronger business linkages with Zambia.

He expressed optimism about the discussed initiatives and the possibility of forging a sister-state relationship between Zambia and Victoria.

This is contained in a statement issued to RCV News in Lusaka today by First Secretary – Press and Public Relations, Zambia High Commission to Australia and New Zealand, Charles Mucholo.
