VACCINATE RISK POPULATION AGAINST MPOX  -MEDRAP

The Medicines Research and Access Platform (Medrap) has called for the mandatory vaccination of high risk population in border towns against the Mpox virus.

(Medrap) Executive Director, Liyoka Liyokam has identified the high risk populations as officials that wok at the border controls, children under the age of 1, pregnant women and immune compromised persons.

Speaking in an interview with RCV News in Lusaka today, Mr. Liyoka said that mandatory vaccination among the risk populations will limit the chances of the virus spreading into Zambia.

“Government has put in place decent measures to ensure the outbreak of the virus does not spread into Zambia, but it can do more by vaccinating its own people,” said Mr Liyoka.

Mr. Liyoka has warned that failure to implement preventive measures on the Mpox outbreak may be devasting to the health of many Zambians.
