STATE MACHINERY USED TO DELAY UKA REGISTRATION-SIKOTA

The United Kwacha Alliance, UKA, has alleged that the state is deliberately delaying the registration of UKA as a political party, to frustrate its members.

UKA Chairperson, Sakwiba Sikota, said this today, when he featured on Christian Voice’ Chatback program on the topic, “Status of UKA”.

Mr. Sikota said that UKA submitted the finger prints to police head quatres for clearance two months ago, but that police are yet to provide feedback on the matter.

“UKA office bearers need clearance from the police before submitting paper work to the registrar of societies,” said Mr. Sikota.

Mr. Sikota therefore accused government of prolonging the registration of UKA.

He said the meddling of government in the registration of UKA as a political party is a direct attack on democracy.
