REVISION OF BENEFIT PACKAGES DUE TO FINANCIAL CONSTRAINTS – NHIMA

The National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIMA) has attributed the revised benefit package to financial constraints faced by the scheme.

NHIMA Director Quality Assurance and Accreditation, Victoria  Musonda, says audits have revealed  that NHIMA was paying more for claims to accredited health centres, compared to the contributions coming from registered members.

Ms. Musonda said this in Lusaka today when she featured on Christian Voices’ Chatback program on the topic, “Amended Benefit packages”.

“Some packages have been removed from private health facilities, while others like tooth extraction will now require cost-sharing between patients and NHIMA.,” said Ms. Musonda.

She assured the public that most of the removed packages remain available at public health institutions.
