PRESIDENT HH APPEALS FOR HUMANITARIAN SUPPORT FOR ZAMBIA

Zambia’s Republican Hakainde Hichilema has called on the international community to help the country cope with the effects of a drought by sending humanitarian support.

President Hichilema was speaking to CNN News today weeks after declaring the drought a national disaster.

The President said the drought is threatening the country’s food security, national security and power generation.

“This year Zambia is seeing something that has not been seen before”, said President Hichilema.

He said because of the drought Zambia will not be able to send food support to regional countries that have been benefiting from the country’s food basket.
