The Cross-Border Traders Association of Zambia has called for improved screening services for potential disease transmissions, at boarder entry points across the country.
Association General Secretary, Jacob Makambwe, says it is unfortunate that most boarder entry points are porous when it comes to screening of potential disease transmission, which he said poses a huge health risk to the nation.
Speaking in an interview with RCV News in Lusaka today, Mr. Makambwe said a recent study showed that most traders are not screened for Mpox, Ebola, Covid19 and other diseases that may cause a crisis if not curtailed at the borders.
“Government through border agencies need to be proactive and ensure all traders are screened before entering the country,” advised Mr. Makambwe.
