United for Better Zambia party (UBZ ), has announced its resignation from the United Kwacha Alliance (UKA), becoming the 2nd Political Party, within a week, to leave the alliance that originally was comprised of 16 political parties.
In his resignation letter, addressed to UKA Chairperson, UBZ Leader Hector Soondo called UKA a time waster, wasting the time for Zambians who put hope in it.
He said UKA is not ready to help Zambians get out of what he called “the hardships” they are going through.
“We cannot continue working together as partners because seemingly we have different objectives. We therefore wish to categorically state that we have resigned from being members of the United Kwacha Alliance, “ said Mr. Soondo.
He also cited failure by UKA to discipline alliance members whom he said disrespected former President Edgar Lungu, who is UKA member, in their voice notes..
“You failed to give hope to poor citizens 11 months down from the time you allegedly formed the same failed UKA,” charged Mr. Soondo.
Meanwhile, New Congress Party leader, Peter Chanda, cited bullying, harassment, disrespect and abuse of Former President Lungu in UKA, as one of the reason for his resignation.
But UKA Youth Chairman, Thomas Sipalo, yesterday said in an interview with RCV News that the alliance is intact and that the perceived intra alliance wrangles indicate the existence of democracy within the organization.
