POLICE RECOVER FIREARM FROM A PUPIL 

Police  in Lusaka’s Kanyama have recovered a Firearm from a Male Juvenile aged 18, from a named school and a resident of Garden Park area within Lusaka.

The recovery occurred yesterday July 7, 2024, around 00:30 hours in the Garden Park area by a patrol team composed of regular police officers, reserve police officers, and members of the Community Crime Prevention Unit.

Police Public Relations Officer, Rae Hamoonga, says brief facts are that the officers, who were conducting patrols in the area, received a tip-off from members of the public indicating that the suspect was illegally in possession of a pistol.

“Acting on this information, the patrol team apprehended the suspect and recovered the firearm,” said Mr. Hamoonga in a statement issued to RCV News in Lusaka today.

Mr. Hamoonga said the source of the firearm is currently unknown, and that the case remains under investigation.

He said a docket of case for unlawful possession of a firearm has been opened, and further updates will follow as the investigation progresses.
