NAQEZ CALLS FOR GOVT’S GUIDANCE ON EDUCATION CRISIS

The National Action for Quality Education in Zambia (NAQEZ) has called on President Hakainde Hichilema to provide a critical guidance on education amidst drought national crisis, as he addresses parliament tomorrow.

NAQEZ says there is need for the President to provide decisive leadership on pressing educational issues, particularly in the wake of one of the worst droughts Zambia has ever faced.

In a statement to RCV News today, NAQEZ Executive Director, Aaron Chansa highlighted some of the urgent matters the President should address which include teacher’s salary scale upgrades, delayed teacher recruitment and school feeding programme.

“The recruitment of 4,500 new teachers, as factored in the 2024 national budget, remains stagnant with no progress to talk about,” said Mr. Chansa.

Mr. Chansa has urged the President to address the delay and reassure the public that education remains a priority for the New Dawn Administration.
