A total of 1,610 double-seater desks procured through the 2024 expanded Constituency Development Fund (CDF) have been delivered to various public schools across Nalolo District.
In a statement issued to RCV News in Lusaka today, Nalolo Town Council Public Relations Officer, Buttyson Kandimba, said the delivered desks represent approximately 56% of the targeted 2,886 desks, which are being procured at a cost of K4.6 million to help address the furniture deficit in Nalolo Constituency.
Mr. Kandimba explained that the procurement process was conducted through Open National Bidding, with preference given to Nalolo-based contractors.
“There has been a significant improvement in school enrolment across the district compared to the 26,035 learners recorded in the last quarter of 2024,” said Mr. Kandimba.
He attributed the increase in enrolment primarily to the implementation of the free education policy.
