The Media Owners Association of Zambia (MOAZ) has called on government to support the media industry by providing advertising support.
MOAZ President, Costa Mwansa, has told RCV News in a statement today that media houses struggle to secure advertising revenue from government agencies, despite their critical role in disseminating information to the public.
Mr. Mwansa said this is despite the commitment and promises made by the ruling UPND and its leadership, ahead of the 2021 election, to provide a fair share of government support towards private media.
He said lack of advertising undermines the financial sustainability of media organizations, leaving them vulnerable to manipulation and abuse.
And Mr. Mwansa said the current load shedding is disrupting the operations of media houses across the country.
