Mining Expert, Edward Simukonda, has underscored the importance of strict adherence to established laws and guidelines by the African Federation of Mines and Mineral Wealth to ensure the safety and welfare of mine workers across the continent.
In an interview with RCV News in Lusaka, Mr. Simukonda emphasized that the tools and frameworks necessary to protect mine workers already exist.
“All that is required is to follow the established procedures and protocols,” said Mr. Simukonda
His remarks come in response to recent calls by Minister of Labour and Social Security, Brenda Tambatamba, who urged the African Federation of Mines and Mineral Wealth to prioritize workers’ welfare.
