LUMEZI MIGRATING TO ELECTRONIC PROCUREMENT IN APRIL

“Lumezi Town Council will next month migrate from manual to Electronic Government Procurement System”, Council Chairperson Oliver Mwale has disclosed.

Speaking when he addressed local contractors and suppliers during an orientation meeting in Lumezi, Mr. Mwale said the e-Government Procurement, e-GP, has been introduced as part of steps to simplify procurement systems in the Council.

Mr. Mwale said contractors and suppliers have for a long time yearned to have equal opportunities to participate in public procurement without being deprived as a result of the existing manual procurement system.

“The Council is fully aware that beginning April this year, all public institutions will migrate to e-Government Procurement of goods, works and services and Lumezi is no exception” said Mr. Mwale.

He said the district has since sent technocrats from the Council and line ministries for a training on how to use the e-GP platform.

“The training of technocrats, suppliers and contractors was facilitated with financial assistance from USAID Local Impact Governance Project while trainers were drawn from the Zambia Public Procurement Authority ZPPA” said Mr. Mwale.

And Mr. Mwale said the Council’s procurement capacity has increased following the increment in the Constituency Development Fund, CDF, to K30.6 million this year representing a significant jump from K1.6 million in 2021.

This is contained in a statement issued to RCV News in Lusaka today by Lumezi Town Council Assistant Public Relations Officer Irvin Muyumbwa.
