LOW HIV LIFE SAVING SERVICES AMONG YOUNG PEOPLE-GOV’T

Minister of Health, Elijah Muchima, has expressed concern with the low HIV case identification among young people in the country.

Dr. Muchima says the ministry is aware that several young people are living with HIV without accessing life saving health care services.

He said that there is need to revamp the Zambia end HIV /AIDS campaign to enable young people living with HIV freely access life saving health services.

Dr. Muchima was speaking in a speech read on his behalf by Lusaka Province Health Director, Simulymana Choonga , at the 4th Edition of the regional adolescents health Indaba in Chongwe today.

“There is also need for the youth to be responsible and stay away from vices that will expose them to HIV” said Dr. Muchima.

He said government will promote the comprehension of HIV knowledge among young people from 39% to 95% by 2026.
