Kabwata Member of Parliament Andrew Tayengwa has called on the Energy Regulation Board (ERB), and Lusaka City Council (LCC), to revise the manner they award trading licenses to fueling stations in his constituency.
Mr. Tayengwa said this when he responded to callers on Christian Voices’ Chatback program, on the increased construction of fueling stations in Kabwata constituency.
He said that the tendency by fueling companies to construct their service stations in residentials, is a calamity in waiting.
“There is need to revise how the licenses are issued to ensure communities are safeguarded from possible disasters”, said Mr. Tayengwa.
He also called on the Ministry of Green Economy and Environment to take keen interest on the environmental impact that fuel stations may have in residential areas.
