JJ‘S WIFE AND 5 CHARGED WITH AIDING A PRISONER TO ESCAPE

The Zambia Police Service have arrested  the wife to  Emmanuel Jay Banda, Lombe Chali, together with 2 Police officers and 3 prison warders and have charged them with the offence of Aiding a Prisoner to Escape Contrary to Section 120 Chapter 87 of the Laws of Zambia.

This is in a case involving the escape from custody by Petauke Central Member of Parliament, Emmanuel Jay Banda, which occurred on 4th August 2024.

In a statement issued to RCV News in Lusaka today, Police Public Relations Officer, Rae Hamoonga, said all the six suspects have been released on Police Bond and will appear in court soon to answer to the charges levelled against them.

Mr. Hamoonga named the Police Officers as Mfungwe Phineas and Kabole Benson, and the three Prison Warders as Sakala Moses, Nathan Mbao, and Musa Spider Zulu.

“The Zambia Police Service remains committed to upholding the law and ensuring that those who breach the law, regardless of their status or position, are held accountable,” said Mr. Hamoonga.
