The Health Professions Council of Zambia, HPCZ, has welcomed the conviction of a 56-year-old Congolese man identified as, Joel Kalala, who was practicing as a medical practitioner illegally.
HPCZ Senior Public Relations Officer Terry Musonda’s comment follows media reports that a 56-year-old Congolese national has been fined K66,000 by the Solwezi Magistrate court after finding him guilty of illegally practicing as a medical practitioner and offering health care services without a practicing certificate.
Mr. Musonda therefore said the Council will continue to collaborate with law enforcement officers to ensure that such practices are brought to book they are endangering innocent lives.
He has commended the Solwezi Magistrate Court for the action taken against the fake medical doctor and further warned those in the similar business to desist from such practices before the law catches up on them.
