GOV’T CONFIDENT LOBITO PROJECT  WILL SUCCEED

Minister of Transport and Logistics, Frank Tayali, says the change of administration in the United States of America (USA) should not derail the progress made on the Lobito Corridor project.

Speaking during a Panel Discussion at the ongoing Investing in African Mining Indaba in Capetown, South Africa, the Minister said Zambia remains open to working with the America government as a way of enhancing economic diplomacy.

Mr. Tayali said for a long time, Zambia was predominantly skewed towards working with the East, adding that doors have been opened to also work with the US.

He said the collaboration and support of the US government has been seen in the pivotal role played in the soon to be opened car battery manufacturing plant in Ndola.

“The US should not create a vacuum that other people might want to fill up, but leverage on the gains that other countries have realized together over time,” said Mr. Tayali in a statement issued to RCV News in Lusaka today by the Ministry’s Public Relations Unit.

The Ndola Central lawmaker said it is important that US Government maintains that strategic global leadership to be able to help the Global South in achieving some of the much-needed economic advancement.

He said this will also help in lessening the burden in the number of migrants that will have to be removed from that country.
