GOVERNMENT SHOULD REPORT IF SCHOOLS ARE READY TO RE-OPEN – NAQEZ

The National Action for Quality Education in Zambia (NAQEZ) Executive Director Aaron Chansa has called on the Ministry of General Education to update the nation on whether schools are ready to start lessons next week Monday.

Government postponed the opening of Schools for 2024 term one, from 8th to 29th January due to the increase in the number of cholera cases.

Dr. Chansa has asked government to inform the nation on the preventive measures being implemented in schools to ensure the environment is safe for learners.

“ Government through the ministry must ensure health inspections are conducted in all the schools and give guidance to parents ahead reopening of schools” said Dr. Chansa in a statement issued to RCV news in Luska today.

Meanwhile, Dr. Chansa has implored government to address factors that are standing in the way of quality education in the country, as the nation joins the rest of the world in commemorating international day of education which falls tomorrow, 24th January 2024.

He said that there is need to address issues around infrastructure , literacy and human resource in the education sector.
