GIVE LOCALS LICENSES TO MINE GOLD IN KASEMPA

Opposition Green Party President, Peter Sinkamba, has challenged government to formalize the Small Scale Mining of Gold in Kasempa district of North Western Province.

Police in North Western Province over the weekend raided Kimabokwe area of Kasempa District where scores of illegal miners camped in search of gold.

Speaking in an interview with RCV News in Lusaka today, Mr. Sinkamba said that as opposed to dispersing the small scale miners, government should award licenses to the said miners for them to earn a living.

“So many mining sites have been given to investors but youths and Zambians must be allowed to mine the Gold in Kasempa district,” said Mr. Sinkamba.

He said government should not play double standards on the awarding of mining licenses which he said ,has favoured foreign  investors under the current leadership.
