EFZ URGES MULTISECTORAL APPROACH TO COMBAT GBV IN ZAMBIA

Evangelical Fellowship of Zambia (EFZ) Executive Director Andrew Mwenda has emphasized that a multisectoral approach is essential in the fight against Gender-Based Violence (GBV) in the country.

On October 30, 2024, the Zambia Police Service released their analysis of GBV data for the third quarter, revealing a total of 10,782 cases reported nationwide, an increase from 10,434 cases during the same period in 2023.

In an interview with RCV News, Bishop Mwenda stressed the importance of collaboration among families, traditional leaders, and the church to combat GBV effectively.

“The church is integral to the community, and its success is tied to the well-being of families, which should be healthy spiritually, physically, and morally,” said Bishop Mwenda.

Bishop Mwenda has also called for the church to revise certain teachings and promote healthier family dynamics by organizing regular family meetings.
