DROUGHT HAS REDUCED PURCHASING POWER OF INDIVIDUALS- ZANAMACA

The Zambia National Marketeers Credit Association (ZANAMACA) says the current drought situation has had a catastrophic impact on the country’s food security and that it has reduced the purchasing power of consumers.

ZANAMACA President Mupila Kameya said this in an interview with RCV News today.

Mr. Kameya said destruction of crops has led to a scarcity of variety of food for resale.

“With reduced supply comes increased prices, making essential goods inaccessible for consumers”, said Mr. Kameya.

Mr. Kameya has however commended government’s commitment to increase humanitarian support and importation of food to mitigate shortages.
