The Lusaka City Council LCC has dispelled assertions that it has failed to deliver desks at Twashuka Primary School, under the 2023 Constituency Development Fund CDF.
LCC Public Relations Manager, Chola Mwamba, says the council took all necessary steps to initiate the procurement process by floating a tender, after government approved the purchase of the desks.
Ms. Mwamba has however explained that an appeal was lodged with the Zambia Public Procurement Authority, ZPPA, by one of the tender applicants, which has delayed the process.
“In accordance with the law, LCC has re-evaluated the process as advised by ZPPA and the committee is scheduled to reconvene this week to reconsider the project,” said Ms. Mwamba in a statement issued to RCV News in Lusaka today.
She said that the council remains committed to implementing the presidential directive of ensuring no child sits on the floor during lessons.
