CDF AND FREE EDUCATION MONEY NOT BORROWED – UPND

United Party for National Development UPND Consultant Mark Simuwe has refuted suggestions that government is using borrowed money to fund the increased Constituency Development Fund, CDF, and free education policy.

Last week, Economist Trevor Hambayi criticised government for borrowing money to fund CDF and the free education policy which he said was not sustainable.

Speaking when he featured on Christian Voices’ Chatback program in Lusaka today, Mr. Simuwe said the increased CDF and free education policy is being funded by the treasury.

“Assertions that government has been borrowing money to fund the two policies is false,” said Mr. Simuwe.

And Mr. Simuwe has urged the opposition Patriotic Front PF to stop criticising government on the current state of the economy, saying the former ruling party is the reason that the country is in a difficult economic situation.
