ACC ARRESTS TWO LUSAKA BUSINESS PERSONS FOR CORRUPT

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has arrested and charged Janet Florence Mangani Chanda a Coordinator for Persons Living with Disabilities in Mandevu Constituency and Steven Zulu an Agent at Autocom Zambia, for obtaining pecuniary advantage by false pretenses in relation to purchase of a Motor Vehicle.  

ACC Head – Corporate Communications, Timothy Moono, said in a statement in Lusaka today, that Janet Florence Mangani Chanda, 39, of Zanga Zanga Six Miles and Steven Zulu, 31, of Lilayi Shaft Five, have both been charged with one count of Obtaining Pecuniary Advantage by False Pretenses contrary to the Laws of Zambia.

Mr. Moono said Ms. Chanda, being Coordinator for Persons Living with Disabilities in Mandevu Constituency, used National Registration Card and Disability Card of Emeldah Chisanga Kabwe, a disabled person registered with ZAPD to import a Mazda Demio Motor Vehicle, and obtained Tax exemption from the Zambia Revenue Authority, ZRA.

“Details of the offence for Steven Zulu are that, on dates between 1st December, 2020 and 30th June 2021 in Lusaka District, being a private person, namely an Agent at Autocom Japan, with intent to defraud, did import a Mazda Demio Motor Vehicle Registration Number BCD 5885ZM from Autocom Japan and obtained Tax exemption from the Zambia Revenue Authority”, said Mr. Moono.

He said the importation of the vehicle was done by using Emeldah’s National Registration Card and Disability Card, a representation which he knew to be false.

Meanwhile, Mr. Moono said in a separate development, the ACC has also arrested and charged Chefu Beauty Musonda for uttering a false document.

He said Chefu Beauty Musonda, 41, of Mount Makulu in Chilanga, a Stenographer at Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development, has been charged with one count of Uttering a False Document contrary to the Laws of Zambia.

“Details of the offence are that Ms. Musonda, on dates between 1st January 2010 and 17th June 2011 in the Lusaka, knowingly and fraudulently uttered a false Secretarial and Office Management Certificate Serial Number 4376 to the Ministry of Agriculture, purporting that the said Secretarial and Office Management Certificate was issued by Evelyn Hone College when in fact not”, said Mr. Moono.
