HH CALLS FOR STRONGER TIES WITH UN TO SPUR NATIONAL GROWTH

President, Hakainde Hichilema, has underscored the importance of strengthening partnerships with international partners such as the United Nations (UN) system to drive national development and economic value creation.

Speaking during a meeting with UN Tourism Secretary-General, Zurab Pololikashvili, at State House today, President Hichilema emphasized the role of strategic collaboration in unlocking Zambia’s tourism potential.

“Zambia believes in networking and creating value, Without strong networks, the tourism industry cannot thrive,” said President Hichilema.

He noted that Zambia is endowed with rich tourism resources and enjoys a central geographic location, which positions it as a prime destination for regional and international tourists.

The President said that fostering deeper engagement with global partners will help unveil more of the country’s hidden tourism assets, ultimately attracting greater investment and visitor numbers.

President Hichilema expressed appreciation for Mr. Pololikashvili’s visit, describing it as a mark of confidence in Zambia’s tourism potential.

He also thanked the UN Tourism body for choosing Zambia to host the 2nd Edition of the UN Tourism Commission for Africa and the Commission for the Americas (CAFCAM), scheduled for April 8, 2025.
