SIALUBALO CALLS FOR HARD WORK

Newly appointed Minister of Local Government and Rural Development, Gift Sialubalo, has implored Ministry Staff and all the 116 Local Authorities to embrace hard work and a positive mindset to enhance service delivery and improve the livelihoods of Citizens.

Speaking during a Senior Management meeting at the Ministry today, Mr.  Sialubalo emphasized that Local Authorities, including Town Clerks, Council Secretaries, and other officials, must be proactive in executing the Ministry’s mandate.

Mr. Sialubalo highlighted the importance of accelerating the delivery of quality services and empowerment programmes to benefit more citizens and also underscored the critical role of the Constituency Development Fund (CDF) in fostering community development.

He said that effective implementation of CDF projects such as the construction of health facilities, schools, and market shelters, would help bring essential services closer to the people.

Mr. Sialubalo  stressed the need for Citizens to receive timely and impactful information that would enable them to make informed decisions and actively participate in prioritizing development projects.

“As a people-centered Ministry, there is need to work diligently with a positive mindset to accelerate service delivery,” said Mr. Sialubalo  in a statement issued to RCV News in Lusaka today, by Ministry Public Relations Officer, Chila Namaiko.

Mr.  Sialubalo also reaffirmed government’s commitment to increasing the utilization of CDF from 56.9% in 2023 to 98% by 2026.

He further highlighted that the Ministry will closely monitor and evaluate the performance of Local Authorities to ensure accountability and efficiency in service delivery.
