ZAMBIAN WOMEN  URGED TO EMULATE NAMIBIAN PRESIDENT

The Non-Governmental Gender Organizations’ Coordinating Council (NGOCC) has urged Zambian women to take inspiration from Namibia’s newly elected President, Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah, by actively pursuing leadership roles and engaging in governance matters.

Speaking in an interview with RCV News in Lusaka, NGOCC Board Chairperson, Beauty Katebe, expressed delight over Namibia’s historic appointment of its first female President and the inclusion of women in top cabinet positions.

Ms. Katebe commended Namibia’s balanced representation of men and women in government, emphasizing that gender parity in leadership enhances inclusive and effective governance.

“Women in governance have a profound impact because they are naturally selfless in serving the people,” said Ms. Katebe.

She further called for greater inclusivity of women in leadership roles, particularly in the Ministry of Local Government, where their contributions could significantly influence grassroots development.
