KIDS ALIVE DESCRIBES SEXUAL ABUSE AS A SPIRITUAL PROBLEM

Kids Alive Zambia has described the rising cases of child sexual abuse reported in the media as both a social and spiritual crisis requiring urgent attention.

Organization Country Director, Bestone Banda, has therefore  called on all Zambians to unite in combating this growing threat to children’s well-being.

Mr. Banda stressed the need for collective action to find both social and spiritual solutions to protect vulnerable children, particularly girls.

“These cases are deeply disturbing as they inflict severe trauma on children, leaving lasting emotional, physical, and psychological scars that impact their health, social relationships, and academic aspirations,” said Mr. Banda in a statement issued to RCV News in Lusaka today.

He further condemned such acts, emphasizing that they are not only criminal but also an attack on the moral fabric of society.

Mr. Banda highlighted the need to create safer environments for children, including improving data collection on violence against children.

He stressed the importance of tracking where such incidents occur, their forms, causes, the ages most affected, and the communities at highest risk.

Additionally, he called for the strengthening of child protection systems and urged families, churches, schools, and community leaders to break the silence on child abuse.
