Opposition United Prosperous and Peaceful Zambia (UPPZ) has expressed concern over the upcoming delimitation process announced by the Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ).
On 28th February 2025, President Hakainde Hichilema proposed the delimitation of constituencies during his address to Parliament on the progress made in the application of National Values and Principles
And Mr. Chanda has questioned how the commission plans to adjust the voters’ register in light of new constituencies being added.
Mr. Chanda emphasized that the changes could confuse voters as they may have to decide where they go to vote.
“We need to ask how the Electoral Commission will ensure every Zambian knows where to vote. This is a crucial matter and should be discussed after the 2026 general elections,” Mr. Chanda stated.
He argued that the focus should remain on addressing more pressing issues that affect citizens, such as the economy and access to basic services.
Mr. Chanda called for more public dialogue on this issue, urging citizens to voice their opinions.
