EIZ ENCOURAGES WOMEN TO PURSUE CAREERS IN ENGINEERING

As Zambia joins the international community in celebrating Women’s Day tomorrow, the Engineering Institution of Zambia (EIZ) has called on young women to consider careers in engineering, emphasizing the importance of gender diversity in the field and the growing opportunities in science and technology.

EIZ has highlighted the increasing demand for engineers in Zambia’s infrastructure and technology sectors, urging women to break barriers in a traditionally male-dominated profession.

Speaking to RCV News in Lusaka, EIZ Public Relations Manager, Ntalasha Yulu, stressed that women bring unique perspectives and creativity to problem-solving in engineering.

“Historically, engineering has been viewed as a male-dominated field in Zambia, but institutions like EIZ are working to change this perception by offering programs that support women’s participation in engineering education and training,” said Ms. Yulu.

She added that EIZ is collaborating with universities and other platforms to develop outreach programs aimed at encouraging women to pursue STEM-related courses.
