ZNUT CONCERNED WITH DELAYED TEACHER RECRUITMENT

The Zambia National Union of Teachers (ZNUT) has expressed concern with the delayed 2024 Teacher recruitment process.

Union Public Relations Officer, Godwin Maseka, says this is despite government allocating resources for the process in the 2024 National Budget.

Speaking in an interview with RCV News in Lusaka today, Mr. Maseka has therefore urged the Teaching Service Commission and the Ministry of Education to expedite the recruitment process.

“The delay is hindering efforts to improve the quality of education, which heavily relies on having an adequate number of qualified teachers in classrooms,” said Mr. Maseka.

He emphasized that the timely recruitment is crucial to addressing teacher shortages and ensuring that learning outcomes are not compromised.
