The Lusaka City Council (LCC) has urged the public to report unregistered restaurants operating in non-designated areas, citing health risks associated with poor hygiene standards.
LCC Assistant Public Relations Manager, Nyambe Bulumba, expressed concern over the growing number of unregistered and unlicensed restaurants which he said, contribute to the spread of diseases due to inadequate sanitation practices.
Speaking in an interview with RCV News in Lusaka today, Mr. Bulumba emphasized that the council continues to educate both the public and restaurant owners on the importance of maintaining a clean environment to prevent disease outbreaks.
“The council has been closing down restaurants operating in non-designated areas, especially those lacking running water and proper sanitary facilities,” said Mr. Bulumba.
He further urged individuals planning to open restaurants to register with the council and ensure their premises are inspected and approved before commencing operations.
