The Medicines Research and Access Platform (MedRap) has called for heightened preventive measures on the spread of Cholera in Chililabombwe district of the Copperbelt Province.
Last week, 7 deaths were reported in the border town with 17 new cholera cases being recorded in the last 24hrs.
But speaking in an interview with RCV News in Lusaka today, MedRap Executive Director, Liyoka Liyoka, said that the Ministry of Health should take immediate measures to ensure cholera is not spread to other parts of the country.
“The Public Health system must ensure that medicine and treatment are also available to those affected and all measures must be put in place to ensure enough manpower in Chililabombwe ,” said Mr. Liyoka.
He has also called on water utility companies to ensure they consistently provide clean running water to prevent the cholera outbreak.
