GOV’T SHOULD TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR LSK FLOODS – ZANAMACA

The Zambia National Marketeers Credit Association (ZANAMACA) says the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development must take responsibility for the continued  floods in Markets.

ZANAMACA President, Mupila Kameya, says flooding in markets is not conducive for trading, wondering why the ministry fails to plan well on water pathways in markets.

Speaking in an interview with RCV News in Lusaka, Mr. Kameya has also criticized the ministry for allowing individuals  to built structures on drainages that he says, blocks the swift passage of water.

“Regular cleaning and maintenance of drainage systems are essential to prevent blockages and minimize the risk of flooding,” said Mr. Kameya.

He also added that the Disaster Management and Mitigation Unit (DMMU) must come on board to find a lasting solution to flooding in markets.
