GOV’T LAUNCHES WORLD CANCER DAY COMMEMORATION

The Ministry of Health has launched the commemoration of the 2025 World Cancer Day that falls on 4th February under the theme, “United by Unique.”

Acting Health Minister Frank Tayali says the theme reflects the country’s collective commitment to recognizing the individuality of each cancer journey, while promoting unity in the fight against the disease.

Speaking during a media launch of the 2025 World Cancer Day today, Mr. Tayali said the commemoration is a significant opportunity for all to raise awareness, educate the communities, and advocate for policies that support cancer prevention, early detection, and treatment.

Mr. Tayali said Zambia continues to face a high burden of cancer-related illnesses and deaths and that in the lead-up to the 2025 World Cancer Day, Ministry of Health  has planned to undertake several initiatives that include awareness campaigns, screening programs and support networks.

He has further called on Zambians to get involved and foster a culture of awareness and support that transcends boundaries and connects the country in the shared goal of combating cancer.
