NAQEZ CALLS FOR TIMELY SCHOOL GRANTS TO HELP FIGHT CHOLERA

The National Action for Quality Education in Zambia (NAQEZ) has appealed to the Ministry of Education to provide sensitization health programs on the dangers of cholera in schools and ensure timely grants are provided on time.

NAQEZ Executive Director, Aaron Chansa says schools have not received grants which will make it difficult to implement basic preventive measures such as proving hand sanitizers and chlorine in schools.

Speaking in an interview with RCV News in Lusaka today, Dr. Chansa said the lack of funding will make schools struggle to access the necessary funds to implement preventive measures.

“As the cholera outbreak continues to spread, government and other stakeholders are urged to provide necessary support to help schools prepare,” said Dr. Chansa.

He further said that schools must ensure cleanliness to maintain a safe and healthy environment and rise awareness among pupils in preventing the spread of cholera.
