MISA ZAMBIA REMAINS COMMITTED TO MONITORING MEDIA VIOLATIONS

The Media Institute of Southern Africa (MISA) Zambia has hailed the impact of its Notification of Early Warning System (NEWS), describing it as a critical tool in the fight against media rights violations.

MISA Zambia Programs Officer, Magarate Kabuswe, highlighted how the system has transformed the organization’s ability to address violations and support media practitioners across the country.

Speaking during a meeting in Lusaka today, Ms. Kabuswe said that since the establishment of the system, MISA Zambia has seen a notable reduction in the number of media rights violations.

“NEWS makes it possible for MISA Zambia to help media workers report violations in real time and to have them acted upon on time,” said Ms. Kabuswe.

Ms. Kabuswe added that NEWS has also strengthened MISA Zambia’s advocacy efforts by building the capacity of its members to effectively address issues affecting the media.
