5 SUSPECTS NABBED IN STOLEN VEHICLE CASE

5 People have been arrested and a stolen motor recovered following an aggravated robbery near Kalimba Farms along Ngwerere Road.

Zambia Police Public relations officer Rae Hamoonga says the incident, reported on November 30, 2024, around 05:00 hours, involved  David Mukuka, a Yango taxi driver from Mtendere East who was attacked by five criminals—three women and two men—who went away with his Infinix phone worth K2,800 and a silver Toyota IST, registration number APB 1047, valued at K80,000.

Mr. Hamoonga says Acting on intelligence provided by an informant, the Anti-Robbery Squad launched a follow-up operation on December 1, 2024, at about 16:00 hours adding that the team zeroed in on a car park in Kabanana Compound, where the suspects were allegedly attempting to sell the stolen vehicle.

The operation led to the arrest of the following individuals, Saviour Kakoma (44) of Kabanana Compound, Kennedy Daka (22) of Kabanana Compound, Eliz Kamanga (23) of Mtendere Compound, Priscilla Mwape (23) of Mtendere Compound and a female juvenile aged (17) of Mtendere Compound, said Mr. Hamoonga in a statement issued to RCV News in Lusaka today.

He said that during questioning, the suspects confessed to their involvement in the robbery and are  currently in police custody, adding that the stolen vehicle is secured at Lusaka Central Police Station as investigations continue.
