Ministry of Energy Permanent Secretary, Peter Mumba has confirmed, there were no casualties at the Chambishi and Mopani mine during the national wide power system failure that occurred yesterday.
Mr. Mumba said the power outage that occurred on 24th November 2024 left some workers at Chambishi and Mopani mine at mindolo shaft trapped.
In a statement issued to RCV News in Lusaka today, Mr. Mumba said ZESCO corroborated with Copperbelt Energy Power company PIc and Ndola Energy Company Limited in ensuring that alternative power was provided to the mines.
“ZESCO moved in immediately and worked diligently to resolve the unplanned outage,” said Mr. Mumba.
Mr. Mumba has since commended ZESCO for the quick response toward the situation.
