Lusaka City Council (LCC) has raised concerns about the escalating number of fire incidents in the city, with the recent occurrence being at Yoyo Factory, at heavy industrial area yesterday.
LCC Public Relations Manager, Chola Mwamba, says the Fire Brigade under the Department of Engineering has attended to a total of 491 fire incidents and fire related occurrences in the last three months.
In a statement issued to RCV News in Lusaka today, Ms. Mwamba said the common sources of fire incidents in the city are of electrical, charcoal braziers, lighted candles, welding and motor vehicle brake binding activities, among others.
Ms. Mwamba has since urged members of the public, including business owners, to ensure that they take serious preventative measures to avoid fire incidents in their households and trading places.
And Ms. Mwamba said the source of fire and the damage caused in a fire incident at Yoyo Factory is yet to be determined.
