The Non-Governmental Gender Organisations’ Coordinating Council (NGOCC) has congratulated the Copper Queens for emerging the 2024 COSAFA Women’s Championship winners, after beating hosts South Africa.
“The consistency and sheer determination to reach three finals and win two is commendable,” NGOCC Executive Director, Anne Anamela, has said in a statement issued to RCV News in Lusaka today.
Ms. Anamela says it impressive that the Copper Queens emerged champions of the 2024 COSAFA edition under a female coach, Florence Mwila.
“What is even more impressive is that Coach Florence Mwila became the first female Coach to lead a senior women’s football team to an international trophy. Coach Florence, we are very proud of you,” said Ms. Anamela.
She urged Coach Florence Mwila and the entire team to keep the focus, build on this success and continue to be the shining stars for the country, continent and the world at large.
Ms. Anamela also praised the Football Association of Zambia (FAZ), for the great work, commitment, and consistency in supporting women’s football.
