MQHZ CALLS FOR PRIORITISATION OF MENTAL HEALTH

Medical Quality Healthcare Zambia (MQHZ) has called for collective action to address Zambia’s growing mental health concerns, as the country joins the global community in observing World Mental Health Day today.

MQHZ Director General, Quince Mwabu, says there is need for comprehensive solutions, including enhanced mental health infrastructure development, expanded training programs for healthcare professionals, and community-based initiatives promoting mental health awareness and support.

Dr. Chabu says there is also need to break down stigmatization surrounding mental health.

“Support policy changes and initiatives promoting mental health, and encourage those struggling to seek help and access quality care,” said Dr. Chabu in a statement issued to RCV News in Lusaka today.

He reaffirmed his organization’s  commitment to promoting quality healthcare services and tackling the stigma and discrimination perpetuating mental health disorders, which affect one in four Zambians.

This year’s World Mental Health Day is being held under the theme “Mental Health for All”.
