The Council of Churches in Zambia (CCZ) has started building fuel efficient cookstoves in Luangwa District to discourage deforestation.
The initiative aims at responding to effects of climate change caused by tree cutting.
This is by preserving forests where huge logs of trees are cut down for use in homes mostly when cooking,” said CCZ Communications Officer, Clarence Kaoma in a statement issued to RCV News in Lusaka today.
Mr. Kaoma highlighted that the development is as a result of the trainings conducted in various wards in the district including Mankokwe, Kaunga, Malilia, Mburuma and Chikoma.
He said the initiative will also be extended and implemented in other wards in the district and further urged stakeholders to support the smart initiative.
