Opposition Green Party of Zambia President, Peter Sinkamba, has challenged government to update the Nation on the money it has received as assistance from cooperating partners on the drought, since its was declared a National Disaster by the President.
Mr. Sinkamba says Zambians are aware that cooperating partners have supported Zambia in monetary form during the drought response period, saying that the they should be informed of the total money received so far.
Speaking in an interview with RCV News in Lusaka today, Mr. Sinkamba said that failure to update the nation on the money received from cooperating partners will raise suspicion on the transparency of government.
“The monies received from partners is what government should use to import power as opposed to hiking electricity tariffs,” said Mr. Sinkamba.
He has therefore encouraged government to update the nation on all donations it has received from the time it declared the drought a national disaster.
