Ministry of Information and Media Permanent Secretary, Thabo Kawana, has encouraged media owners in Zambia to find viable solutions to sustain their long-term operations, following the dwindling income in the wake of social media advertisements.
Mr. Kawana said this in Lusaka today, in a speech read on his behalf by Ministry Director Human Resource, Bernard Domingo, during a media sustainability meeting.
He said a sustainable media is one that is free from political and economical influence.
Mr. Kawana observed that Zambian media has been facing revenue challenges since their highly dependent advertising revenue is diminishing due to the rise of digital media.
He advised local media owners to diversify their income sources to sustain their operations.
“Sustainable media means no undue influence from financiers,” advised Mr. Kawana
