UPND GOVT URGED TO RECONSIDER PARTY MEMBER COMPENSATION

Kanchibiya Member of Parliament, Sunday Chanda, has advised the United Party for National Development (UPND) government, to reconsider its decision to compensate party members for past grievances.

Mr. Chanda says the compensations are ill timed, saying that they come at a time when the nation is facing economic hardships.

He said that the compensations practices sets a dangerous precedent that could have far-reaching consequences for the nation’s future.

“Compensating individuals based on their political affiliations or past grievances undermines the principles of fairness and equity that should guide governance,” said Mr. Chanda in a statement issued to RCV News in Lusaka.

He said that government must alleviate the suffering of the majority and not to reward the few in a country where millions of citizens are grappling with poverty, unemployment, and a lack of basic necessities.
