The Lusaka City Council (LCC) has allocated 1 Million Kwacha towards the procurement of desks in Chawama Constituency, using the Constituency Development Fund (CDF).
This is to address the deficit of 1,472 school desks in the constituency.
LCC Public Relations Manager, Chola Mwamba, says the Council has so far delivered 665 school desks, with an additional 807 desks to be delivered soon.
“The procurement of the desks is aimed at addressing the long-standing deficit faced by government schools in the Constituency,” said Ms. Mwamba in a statement issued to RCV News in Lusaka today.
She said that the local authority has therefore engaged all suppliers who have not yet delivered the remaining desks, in line with their contractual obligations.
Ms. Mwamba said that the initiative will significantly support the education of young people and further demonstrate government’s commitment to improving educational infrastructure.
